Here’s a few reflections from this year’s Great Escape crew! Many thanks to a great group of sponsors that stepped up to make TGE a phenomenal experience for a great group of kids. We’ll post some pictures as soon as possible, but for now enjoy reading about what God was up to in the lives of our junior highers this past week!
The Great Escape was a great place to become closer to God. All of our youth group
became closer. We did a lot of fun stuff like water rafting, snow sledding, hiking.
And had a shaving cream war! God touched my heart in many ways. He opened all
of our spiritual eyes and ears. We all met a lot of people and it was a blast! For sure I
am coming back next year!!(:

The Great Escape was an opportunity to get closer to God and it was really good that
we get that chance. I liked making new friends from everywhere it was really fun.
We did a lot of cool stuff like rafting, hiking, swimming, and sledding. The worship
was my favorite. I went last year and it was fun but this year was better and I am
coming back next year.!!!

I had a great time at the Great Escape. I learned so many new things about god and
how to build up your relationship with him. It was a great experience for me.

The great escape is a great place to go when you want to become closer to god. On
this trip you have the chance to meet new people and make a lot of new friends. We
went water rafting on the Taylor river, swam in a freezing river, snow sledding and
hiking. On the great escape you have a lot of free time too, so its not a full schedule
all the time and you have time to play and have fun. This is a great experience and I
will never forget it and I will definitely be going back next year!

The great escape is a great place to go if you want to learn about God and for you to
hear him speak to you and become closer to him. Some of the good things this camp
does is show you that you can meet new people and you don’t always have to clique
to have “fun.” Great escape was a fantastic experience for me. We did many fun
things such as hike, water raft, sled down mountains in trash bags, and many more.
It was a great life experience I will never forget!

The Great Escape trip this year was more fun than last years. It’s my second year as an eighth grader. I had such a blast! I met so many more people this year than I did last year. My new friends are from all over the U.S.A. Also, the activities were legit. We went sledding it was so fun! The speakers this year were better than last years. The two speakers helped me realize things I’ve never realized before. I have finally opened my spiritual eyes with my natural ones. Then, the on the very last day I almost cried. I had to say good-bye to some AMAZING new friends. I can’t wait for my last year though. It’s going to be sad, but I get to see all those friends again which are going to make me smile. Especially if I get this kid’s hat back that I loved wearing. Ha ha. Great times.

As 9th graders this was our last year at The Great Escape. We spent one long week in Gunnison, Colorado; swimming, hiking, rafting, exploring, and bonding. This amazing trip brought us all closer to our friends and God. While learning and worshiping about God we were introduced to a new and interesting statement, “opening your spiritual eyes”. Opening your spiritual eyes means you see the world surrounding you as Jesus would see it. Both our speakers were outstanding and really showed us some of Gods great ways. Our morning speaker, Jim Monroe was an illusionist, who used deception to trick our minds into believing things could be supernatural. But what Jim really taught us is to see the truth through a different perspective, and that God is the only one that can make those things actually happen. Over all, we had an amazing, eye opening experience, and we will miss coming back In the future.
Love, the freshmen
