REACH center

Working at the reach center this afternoon. It’s a local outreach in a section8 housing development. Today is a pool day so our kids are playing in the pool with kids from the complex. The boys are playing what looks like pool rugby with the older boys…thankfully nobody has “pulled a hammy” yet. The girls played inside with some of the little children for a bit and are now with them in the wading pool.

One highlight from this morning was having a bible study with five homeless people from lord of the streets episcopal church. We read the story of stephen’s stoning and talked about the spiritual and physical stones that are thrown at us. Also, how god can change any life as evidenced by the move from Saul to Paul…who was “destroying the church” and later wrote half of the nt. Great insights from our homeless brothers and sisters. We closed with an old favorite that was new to l.o.t.s…feesta!!!!!

Really great conversations today about serving the least of these and working like you’re serving Jesus. When a sandwich came through the line this morning that looked messed up, the question was posed, “would you give Jesus that sandwich?” now, they’re playing outside…experiencing more Jesus in kids that are so in need.

More later after some time at the Mexican marketplace, dinner, and a prayer tour of Houston that will really help our kids to see the depth of the issues we’re facing and fighting on behalf of the downcasts and the outcasts.
